2013 road trip, part 2 : savannah • fredericksburg
Savannah has a haunted beauty and the spanish moss only enhances its whimsy...
We stayed at the Marshall House... The building has quite a history to it: it is the oldest hotel in Savannah and during the Civil War, it was used as a hospital for the Union soldiers. Although not realizing when we booked the location, the site is known to be extremely haunted and was featured on the Travel Channel's Haunted Hotels show. Myla enjoyed the extra company :O) It had been vacant for many years and just recently underwent a restoration when the hotel reopened in 1999. We had a veranda room in which you enter the porch through your window. It was great having breakfast outside in the mornings and at night, Brett and I would chat on the porch while Miss Myla went to bed.
A little piece of heaven, Papillote:
Such charm, such cuteness! We had lunch here two days in a row. The perfect little spot for a quick, delicious bite. The bistro has that adorable nook and cranny feel...
Croque Monsieur :O) Of course we couldn't leave without some french macarons!
Stevenson Ridge is a beautiful 87-acre property located in Spotsylvania, Virgina, in which several restored 18th and 19th century cottages are available to stay in. We picked the log cabin for this trip, but we look forward to trying out some of the other homes on the site in the future. There are actual Civil War trenches on the property and you can feel all the history surrounding you. The cabin was cozy, inviting, and with all the antiques and period decor, we felt as if we stepped into another time. A very memorable, unique stay... Loved it! Fredericksburg, Virginia:Alpacas! I've been wanting to visit an alpaca farm for quite some time :O)Thank you Maranatha Alpaca Farm :O)
